The greatest challenge with RepRap 3d printer builds is the documentation. Much of it seems to be all over the place with very few one-stop resources documenting the entire build process, BOM (Bill of Materials) and sources for purchasing the “ingredients”. I plan to keep my 3d Printing Resources updated as I make progress, change the build and hopefully move from RepRap Newbie to the next level.
Prusa i3 documentation
- Botbuilder.net was the single resource after weeks of research that gave me the confidence to start developing my own BOM and purchasing items. If they were based closer to the midwest, I would have attended one of the classes.
Reprap.org Prusa i3
A collection of most things “Prusa i3”. There are some challenges with the content, and it doesn’t seem to be updated very often, however it gives a great foundation for investigating your own build.
Josef Prusa’s Vanilla build of the Prusa i3
This is the Github parts build the botbuilder.net uses, and I am also using for my initial Prusa i3 build.
Josef Prusa original Box and Single Frame build for Prusa i3
Github files for the original Box and Single Plate frame builds for Prusa i3.
- As of this writing (2/3/14) I haven’t officially begun my Prusa build yet, but the screws, nuts bolts, rods, washers and everything else look to be of high quality. Most are in lots of 25, 50 or 100 but if you intent to continue building after your first RepRap, definitely a value.
